Explanation:
Point C of the coupler plane describes a curve that has
two cusps (approximated). For the sewing machine, to follow the thread during a
part of the motion cycle, a motion with constant velocity and quick-return is
required. This motion is generated by the x-component of the coupler point C of
the model. In the real machine the motion is applied vertically. The motion
component and its first derivative is depicted also.
